Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to work closely with cross-functional teams, clients and stakeholders to deliver complete design-build projects. This person will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within their area of assigned responsibility.
This is a full-time exempt position and reports to our Executive VP of Preconstruction. Our office is open from 6am-5pm; team members have flexibility with their daily work schedule, based on their needs and the needs of their team and the work.
Responsibilities
The Lead Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical design and engineering of various projects, including electrical power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power and low voltage systems. The role requires collaboration with the Preconstruction Project Managers, design team and the Installation team during both design and construction phases and managing the coordination of both internal and external contributors and stakeholders.
Additional responsibilities for this role include:
- Leading the electrical design and engineering of various projects including electrical power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power and low voltage systems
- Reviewing and approving electrical calculations, drawing, and specifications.
- Identifying areas improvements for various project phases including concept development, preliminary design, and final design.
- Communicating with customers to understand and define their needs, provide project status, and respond to requests or concerns – both verbal and written, as well as presenting to customers as needed
- Serving as the electrical authority of electrical systems, codes, and standards
- Providing training, guidance and mentorship to staff
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and their professional Engineer (PE) license. Additional qualifications needed for this role include:
- Strong knowledge and familiarity of the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC) and local energy codes
- Strong working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office Suite, and Autodesk REVIT required; SKM Power Tools or ETAP a plus
Skills and Abilities
Success in this role requires the ability to manage several projects at various stages concurrently. You’ll need excellent organizational, electrical design, project management, task management, and problem-solving skills.
