Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Executive (PX) to help lead our Special Projects business unit. They will have in-depth involvement in all phases of electrical construction projects including relationship development, sales, proposal development, estimating, design and preconstruction, oversight of Project Managers, and construction coordination. The PX is accountable for ensuring projects are proceeding on schedule and within budget.
This is a full-time exempt position and reports to the Division Manager of Special Projects and Tenant Improvements. It is based out of our Redmond, WA headquarters and is a fully in-office role. Our office is open from 6am-5pm; team members have flexibility with their daily work schedule, based on their needs and the needs of their team and the work.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a PX fall under the following key areas:
Sales and Marketing
The PX is adept at developing and maintaining long lasting relationships with clients, the design community, and industry organizations towards the enhancement of future business development opportunities. The PX collaborates closely with our sales and marketing department to secure new work, lead proposal development, and help prepare for the project interview process, with support from preconstruction and estimating.
The PX provides leadership and expertise in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, fee and pricing decisions. They strive to meet or exceed annual sales and revenue expectations for the business unit as defined by Division Manager, while developing a backlog of projects. Active participation in industry associations and networking events is key to success in this role.
Operations
The PX oversees multiple projects simultaneously, each at different stages ranging from preconstruction through closeout. They have oversight of business unit’s Project Management team and foster an atmosphere of empowerment by delegating responsibility and accountability. There are times when the PX needs to assume responsibility for the duties of the Senior Project Manager.
The PX participates in project meetings, including kick-off, WIP, status updates, and close-outs. They are responsible for reporting project details and updates to executive management. Additional operational responsibilities of the Project Executive include:
- Driving and promoting the use of prefabrication and manufacturing on all projects
- Reviewing and approving weekly timecards for the team members of the business unit
- Developing and recruiting high performance teams through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring, and ensuring regular feedback is shared with staff, including timely completion of employee performance appraisals
- Coaching individual team members in task and project assignments
- Driving enforcement of safety policies and procedures by the project staff
- Supporting and driving utilization of Sequoyah initiatives and technologies
Business Management
The PX is responsible for developing the business unit’s budget and managing the budget process, based on the agreed upon annual baseline planning requirements. They provide oversight of budget and financial management for all projects and are responsible for reviewing Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports each monthly with the Division Manager. They are accountable for the business unit’s profit and loss performance.
Qualifications
The role requires 15+ years of project management experience with a commercial electrical contractor, including design-build experience. A bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience in the electrical trade and training is needed, as well as previous experience managing small and large electrical construction projects.
Additional qualifications needed for this role include:
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas: electrical estimating, preconstruction planning and budgeting, scheduling, recruiting, purchasing, cost control, accounting, client relationship development, communication and leadership
- Strong proficiency with computer applications and programs including Accubid/McCormick, Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
Skills and Abilities
Success in this role requires the ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules. You must be customer service focused with the ability to define and document customers’ needs, address technical concerns, and provide solutions. A successful PX is able to work with all levels of staff and management and has the proven ability to manage accounts and generate sales.
Additional skills needed for this role include:
- Existing knowledge of the PNW regional market
- Strong sales and closing skills
- Ability to present technical concepts to customers both verbally and in written format
- Self-starter capable of working independently and as a member of a team

Compensation
Base Salary Range: $170,000-$185,000 per year
