Overview
We are seeking a Preconstruction Project Engineer that will be responsible for supporting the preconstruction phase of assigned projects.
This is a exempt position and reports to Senior Management of the Preconstruction department. It is based out of our Redmond, WA headquarters and is a fully in-office role. Our office is open from 7am-4pm.
Responsibilities
The Preconstruction Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the monitoring of project planning, execution and closure, and all project functions as they relate to quality control and project management. They will track project risks, scope changes, pricing updates throughout the preconstruction phase. They must be able to maintain and organize preconstruction documentation, including estimates, scopes and project correspondence.
Additional responsibilities for this role include:
- Assisting in the preparation of conceptual and detailed project estimates, budgets, and bid packages.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
- Assisting with takeoffs and cost analysis for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Coordinating project information and updates between estimating, operations, and field teams to support a smooth project transition.
- Attending pre-bid meetings, site visits, and coordination meetings as needed.
- Helping ensure proposals and estimates align with project specifications, company standards, and client expectations.
- Assisting senior preconstruction staff with presentation materials, bid submissions, and client deliverables.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in the electrical construction industry with a commercial and/or industrial contractor performing estimating and/or project engineering duties.
- Good understanding of principles, methods, and techniques of architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineer; Familiarity with construction means and methods.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
Skills and Abilities
Success in this role requires the ability to handle multiple priorities accurately and calmly with interruptions and still meet deadlines. Additional Skills that will contribute to success in this role include:
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage project priorities and documentation.
- Ability to produce electrical estimates utilizing software-based electrical estimating programs (McCormick or similar).
- Well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter capable of working independently and as a member of a team.
